USA Wrestling will host Kids/Cadets Regional Championships in six regions this year beginning May 28

The popular USA Wrestling Kids/Cadet Regional Series begins May 28 in Greenville, S.C.    The six Kids/Cadets regions include Northeast, Southeast, Central, Northern Plains, Southern Plains and Western Regionals. Competition is in the Olympic styles of wrestling: freestyle and Greco-Roman.     These regionals have traditionally featured strong competition, where wrestlers may test their skills and improve their performance while competing against wrestlers from across their region. Athletes must compete in the Region their state is located.     "USA Wrestling is looking forward to another competitive Kids/Cadets Regional season," said Pete Isais, USA Wrestling's Director of National Events. "The Kid/Cadet Regionals have continued to produce a competitive atmosphere for America's future stars. Several quality wrestlers from these Regionals will also wrestle in the Kids Nationals on June 30-July 3 in Menomonie, Wis."    Athletes in all age groups will challenge the best from their region.   Cadets who secure a top three spot in their weight class qualify for their state team at the ASICS Cadet National Championships held in Fargo, N.D. July 25-31, except for the West regional.     The Tom Shaw Memorial Northwest Regional Championships for Juniors and Cadets in Battle Ground, Wash. March 27-28, 2004 qualified the top three Cadets in each weight class for the Cadet National Championships.     All Midget, Novice, Schoolboy/girl wrestlers must participate in this event to qualify for the Kids National Freestyle and Greco-Roman Championships held in Menomonie, Wis. June 30-July 3.     Many of these Kids/Cadet Regionals will be held in conjunction with girl's and Bantam divisions.     The first Kids/Cadet Regional is the 30th annual Southeast Kids/Cadet Regional Championships with Bantam Division and Girls Festival will be held at the Palmetto Expo Center in Greenville, S.C.
