Discounted Gold Medal Level Seating Still Available for Convention Attendees (Manheim, PA) The National Wrestling Coaches Association is proud to announce that Dr. Myles Brand, President of the NCAA will be the keynote speaker at the 2004 NWCA Convention. This year's convention is scheduled for Thursday, May 20 at the Hyatt Regency in Indianapolis, Indiana with the Olympic Team Trials following at the RCA Dome from May 21-23.        The NWCA also has a limited number of Gold Level Ticket Packages still available for convention attendees to the Olympic Team Trials scheduled for May 21-23 at the RCA Dome.      The convention, which is sponsored by Asics, Cliff Keen and Resilite will mark the first time the president of the NCAA has addressed the wrestling community.  Brand will speak on the NCAA's strategy to preserve Olympic sports on college campuses.  One of Brand's primary objectives as president of the NCAA is to serve as a catalyst for athletic reform on the collegiate level.     Brand assumed his duties as president of the National Collegiate Athletic Association January 1, 2003. He is the fourth chief executive officer of the Association.  Brand came to the NCAA after serving as president of Indiana University from 1994-2002.  Brand also served as president at the University of Oregon from 1989 to 1994. At Indiana, Brand initiated an innovative marketing plan designed to more effectively tell the story of Indiana University's first-class programs and educational opportunities. He helped Indiana University become a national leader in information technology, and he led the largest and most successful endowment campaign in the university's history. Brand was also instrumental in initiating the Central Indiana Life Sciences project, with IU in the leadership role. His academic research investigates the nature of human action. He has also written extensively on various topics in higher education, such as tenure and undergraduate education. Brand's nationally acclaimed January 2001 speech to the National Press Club, "Academics First: Reforming Intercollegiate Athletics," focused on how the disconnect between intercollegiate athletics and education "jeopardizes the essential mission of our universities." Brand's speech is just one of the many reasons to attend the national convention.  The convention offers technique clinics, leadership workshops, coaching education programs and numerous social activities. The convention is a great mechanism to partake in professional development while networking with your peers.  Highlighting this year's convention include: * Coaching education seminars by J Robinson, Dan Gable, and Rob Koll * Technique sessions by Sergei Belogazov, Pat Santoro and Greg Strobel    * Nutrition seminar with Gatorade Sports Science Institute expert Craig Horswill * Leadership Seminar by United States Marine Corps Wrestling Coach Jay Antonelli * A trade fair will also be hosted, featuring the latest products and services within the wrestling community Another major highlight of the convention will be the exhibitors social and raffle to conclude the convention.  Once again the convention vendors have provided a wonderful list of prizes to be raffled off. In addition, all attendees will have an opportunity to win the grand prize, which is a one-week vacation at a beachfront condo on the Island of St. Thomas, compliments of Alan Meltzer and his family along with air travel for two people donated by Navigant Sports Travel.      In cooperation with the Indiana Sports Corporation, the NWCA is offering a special ticket package to the US Olympic Team Trials.  The NWCA has a block of 150 "gold package" tickets (at discounted rates) to the Olympic Trials.  This special NWCA Convention "Gold Ticket Package" includes the following "value added" benefits:  Opportunity to meet newly crowned US Olympic Team, Free Program, Free Commemorative Gift, Free Parking, 50-yard line seating, Autograph Sessions. The cost for the convention is a $150, which includes a commemorative gift, buffet lunch and exhibitors social on Thursday evening and an opportunity to purchase discounted tickets to the Olympic Team Trials.
