GAFFNEY, S.C. - Limestone College announced today the signing of its first ever wrestling recruit. Limestone will begin competing in intercollegiate wrestling in the 2004-2005 school year. Head coach Ben Stehura was pleased to name Daniel Brent Clausing as the first member of that inaugural team. Coincidently, Stehura's first recruit comes from his home state of Ohio. Clausing comes to Limestone from Miamisburg High School in Miamisburg, Ohio. An Honor Roll student at Miamisburg, Clausing was coached by Ohio's first four-time state champion, Willie Wineburg. Brent served as a team captain in his senior season and was named his team's MVP and All-Area 1st-Team for his efforts. He was a four-year letterman, a two-time state qualifier in Division I (Ohio's largest division), and a state place winner in his senior year. The son of Liz and Daniel Clausing, Brent was also a member of Ohio's Junior National Freestyle and Greco Roman team. Stehura was pleased with Clausing's decision to attend Limestone. "Brent comes from a great family and has a strong wrestling background at Miamisburg. He is a quality individual as well as a quality athlete. We're excited to have our first official member of the Limestone Wrestling Team. This inaugural team will be something special and something to remember." Limestone College is an accredited, independent, coeducational, four-year liberal arts institution located in Gaffney, SC. Limestone has an on-campus enrollment of 560 students and offers 17 intercollegiate sports.
