USA Wrestling has updated its new "Bout of the Week" on USA Wrestling's Members-Only website. The featured match this week will be the Jared Frayer vs. Eric Larkin quarterfinal match at 66 kg/145.5 lbs. at the 2004 U.S. Nationals in men's freestyle wrestling. This match was held in Las Vegas, Nev. This wide-open battle between these talented young stars caught the attention of the crowd, as both athletes were able to score points throughout the bout. Later in the tournament, the athletes wrestled again, this time for the bronze medal. Both matches were won by Frayer. Frayer has proven to be a talented freestyle wrestler on the Senior level. He has won gold medals at the Dave Schultz Memorial International, the New York AC Christmas International, the FILA Manitoba Open and the Clansman International. Frayer was a NCAA runner-up for the Univ. of Oklahoma in 2001, and placed fourth in the 2000 NCAA Championships. He is currently an assistant wrestling coach at Harvard Univ., where he worked with 2004 NCAA champion Jesse Jantzen. He also won three Florida state titles for Countryside High School. Larkin was a four-time All-American for Arizona State Univ., climbing the ladder of success during his college career. His placements at the NCAA Tournament went from fourth to third to second to first. In his senior season, Larkin won the Dan Hodge Trophy as the nation's best college wrestler that season. Larkin's freestyle skills are already well known. He was the champion at the 2004 Dave Schultz Memorial International, and his gold-medal match there was also chosen as a Bout of the Week. While an underclassman in college, Larkin placed a strong third in the 2000 Olympic Trials. He has also excelled in major freestyle events, such as the Sunkist Kids International Open. He attended Sunnyside High School in Tucson, Ariz. This popular feature will be changed on a regular basis, allowing members to enjoy many of the greatest matches in wrestling history. Moving into the archived section of Bouts of the Week was last week's 1987 Bill Scherr vs. Greg Gibson men's freestyle match. Many other entertaining and historic matches are in the archive section for the Bout of the Week. USA Wrestling has done a complete redesign and expansion of its Members-Only website, providing all USA Wrestling members with an impressive new resource stocked with interactive learning tools and entertaining features. This on-line resource is available free of charge only to current members of USA Wrestling, one of the most exciting benefits of joining the organization.
