Zadick scored his first takedown with 14 seconds left in the period. Kelly tacked on an additional point for the 5-2 win. In a see-saw match, all points were one at a time. Schwab scored in the first six seconds, but Bono scored late in the period to tie it at 1-1 at half. Bono went up 2-1, then Schwab tied it at 2-2. Pritzlaff closed it to 3-2 early in the second period, then Williams scored a takedown and another turn for a 6-2 lead. Both wrestlers scored another point to finish it at 7-3. Blackmon jumped to a 3-0 lead, then tacked on two more points later in the first period for a 5-0 lead after the first period. Heskett got a takedown, then locked up a cradle, scoring two for exposure and one for the hold, making it suddenly 5-4.
