Cedar Falls, Iowa - Five wrestlers repeated as Kids Folkstyle national champions on Sunday at the UNI-Dome on the campus of Northern Iowa Univ. Four age groups competed at the national event, Midget (Born 1994-95), Novice (Born 1992-93), Schoolboy (Born 1990-91) and Cadet (Born 1998-99). Overall, 1,676 wrestlers competed for the title of folkstyle national champion. The Kids Folkstyle National Championships served as the first jewel in the USA Wrestling Triple Crown. Winners of this event, along with the Kids freestyle and Greco-Roman National Championships will capture the coveted Triple Crown. Repeating as champions this year were Ben Morgan of Oklahoma (Novice, 85 lbs.), Riley Adamson of New Mexico (Schoolboy, 90 lbs.), Alex Meade of Delaware (Schoolboy, 110 lbs.), Sharky Slyter of Kansas (Schoolboy, 70 lbs.) and Deron Winn of Missouri (Cadet, 171 lbs.). Slyter won his title in the Novice division last year and Winn won his title in the Schoolboy age group. Adamson, Morgan, Slyter and Winn were all 2003 Triple Crown winners as well. Adamson, who is the most successful wrestler since USA Wrestling began hosting kids national championships, is now in the running to win his sixth consecutive Triple Crown. He is the only wrestler to win more than two consecutive Triple Crowns. The Kids Freestyle and Greco-Roman National Championships will be held in Menomonie, Wis., June 30-July 3. The Kids Folkstyle National Championships also served as the final leg for the USA Wrestling Dominator Series. Nate Moore of Iowa, a Schoolboy 95-pound champion, was named the Ultimate Dominator after winning the last of the seven-tournament series.
