College Coach of Year Greg Strobel to kick off MWA Beat the Streets site in N. Bergen, N.J.

President Setrak Agonian of the Metropolitan Wrestling Association announced today that the "Metropolitan Wrestling Academy" will launch its Tuesday practices on March 30 at North Bergen High School in North Bergen, NJ.  During the course of the spring, the MWA will provide a number of guest coaches at its local sites.    North Bergen High School is located at 7417 Kennedy Blvd. in North Bergen, NJ.     The special guest coach for the inaugural North Bergen practice will be Greg Strobel.    Strobel is the coach of Lehigh University, which last week placed third in the NCAA Division I Championships in St. Louis.  Strobel, a two time NCAA Champion himself from Oregon State, was named "Coach of the Year" by the National Wrestling Coaches Assn.    In addition to his duties as coach at Lehigh, Strobel was the head coach for the 2000 USA Olympic Freestyle Wrestling Team.  He is considered among the top clinicians in the country.    Coach Stobel's time for this clinic is donated.    Throughout the spring, practices at North Bergen will take place each Tuesday at 7:00 PM.      On weeks when there is no guest coach, the club practice will be led by Coach Bobby Penotti.  Penotti is an All American from Montclair State and a former member of the NYAC National Team.  Currently, Bobby conducts leadership training seminars as well as Conflict Resolution sessions in the NYC Public Schools.    The "Metropolitan Wrestling Academy" is the MWA's initiative to develop and grow the sport of wrestling in the inner cities of the New York Metropolitan area.    During the spring, the MWA is open at several sites throughout the area.  Instruction is offered on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays with and intensive practice scheduled for Wednesedays at Hunter College in Manhattan.    The MWA has previously opened its Monday night Clinic at the diSilvestri Wrestling Center on the campus of Monsignor Farrell HS on Staten Island.    There is no cost to any NYC or Hudson County student who is a member of USA Wrestling. USAW cards will be available at the site and are $30.  Athletes from outside the area who wish to attend may do so for a fee of $10 (in addition to the USAW Card)    The Metropolitan Wrestling Association is a non-profit organization whos mission it is to develop the sport of wrestling in the New York City Metropolitan Area for athletes of all ages by promoting the mission of USA Wrestling in its service area.
