(Manheim, PA) The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) and the Delaware Wrestling Alliance (DWA) through the sponsorship of Brute, will be hosting the third annual NWCA/DWA Brute US High School Open and Scholastic Duals April 2-4, 2004 at Memorial Hall on the campus of Delaware State University.      This USA Wrestling-sanctioned event brings together one of the nation's most successful underclassman team tournaments with the Brute US High School Open.      The Brute US High School Open enters its third year after two successful tournaments. Over 400 wrestlers competed in last year's event including over 50 state champions and numerous high school All-Americans.  This event creates an opportunity for thousands of outstanding wrestlers across the country to compete against the nation's best and to earn U.S. High School Open All-American Honors.      The top eight wrestlers in each weight class will receive specially designed Brute US High School Open awards.  Champions will receive a specially designed Adidas warm up jacket along with a medal. The top eight wrestlers in each weight class will be designated as a U.S. High School Open All-American and will receive a certificate signifying this achievement.      All wrestlers from grades 9-12 are eligible for the Brute US High School Open. While this tournament is an open event, it is an elite tournament that will feature many of the nation's top scholastic wrestlers. Wrestlers who are competing in the scholastic duals are eligible to compete in both events.  There is a separate entry fee for wrestlers, who are competing in the duals.  All contestants must present a current USA Wrestling membership card or purchase one with registration. The Brute Scholastic Duals, which is entering its 10th year, is a showcase for upcoming talent as no seniors are allowed to compete in this state versus state, folkstyle dual meet competition.  The 2003 Brute Scholastic Duals featured 21 state teams representing 19 states across the country.  The event had a talented field that consisted of 55 state champions, 90 state finalist and 190 state place winners.  Team Pennsylvania Thunder is the returning team champion.        For more information on how to register for the Brute US High School Open, please visit www.nwcaonline.com.  You can also call Jeff Bowyer at 717-653-8009 with any questions.
