West Virginia Univ. to welcome National Freestyle Training Camp, March 24-31

Morgantown, W.Va. - West Virginia University will host a National Freestyle Training Camp on March 24-31, in Morgantown, W. Va., announced WVU assistant and 2004 U.S. Olympic Freestyle Coach Zeke Jones.    "We are very excited to have the nation's best freestyle wrestlers train here in Morgantown," says Jones. "This is just another step the U.S. athletes are taking to bring home gold medals come this summer."    The training camp is designed to prepare the country's best athletes in preparation for the U.S. National Championships and U.S. Olympic Team Trials-Wrestling.    The U.S. Olympic Team Trials-Wrestling competition format features a two-day Challenge Tournament and a championship final series. The Challenge Tournament in all three styles will take place Friday, May 21 and Saturday, May 22, in Indianapolis, Ind. This will include all of the competitors except the 2004 U.S. Nationals champions, who receive a bye to the championship series finals. The 2004 U.S. National Championships will be held in Las Vegas, Nev., April 9-10.    There are seven 2004 U.S. Olympic Team berths available in men's freestyle wrestling. The 2004 Olympic Games will take place in Athens, Greece, August 22-29.
