CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - For the fourth time this season, University of Virginia wrestler Scott Moore (Franklin, Pa./Franklin Academy), ranked #1 in the nation at 141-pounds, has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference's Wrestler of the Week. He was also named the ACC Wrestler of the Week on November 24th, January 12th and January 19th. Moore, a 141-pound All-American, is a perfect 44-0 on the season including 17-0 in dual match action with 31 of his 44 victories wins coming by fall. His 31 wins by fall leads the NCAA. On February 18th in Virginia's 25-15 victory over Maryland in an ACC dual match, Moore broke the UVa school record for most falls in a career in just his first season as a Cavalier when he pinned the Terrapins' Jason Gribschaw at 6:00 in the 141-pound bout. Moore's record-setting 29th win by fall in that match broke former Virginia record holder Matt Roth's mark of 28 career falls from 1995-99. Moore has taken first place in all seven invitationals/tournaments that he has competed in this season. He won the Michigan State Open, Cornell's Body Bar Invitational, the Mat Town USA Invitational, the Collegiate Beast of the East, UNC Greensboro's Southern Scuffle, the Virginia Intercollegiate State Wrestling Championships and won his match in the NWCA All-Star Classic. Moore and the Cavaliers will return to action on Saturday, March 6th when UVa hosts the 2004 Mat Jam featuring the ACC and Southern Conference Wrestling Championships. The event will be held at Virginia's University Hall.
