The St. Louis Sports Commission, University of Missouri, and the National Collegiate Athletic Association's (NCAA) Youth Education through Sports (YES) program will host a free wrestling YES clinic from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, March 16 at Savvis Center. Held in conjunction with the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships in St. Louis March 18-20, the clinic is open to boys and girls ages 10-18. Registration is limited to ensure that group instruction sessions are small; therefore, early enrollment is encouraged. Parents are also invited to participate in a panel discussion in which local experts will discuss issues related to youth sports, such as coaching, nutrition, sportsmanship and injury prevention. To register, call 314-206-7385 ot log on to www.YESclinics.org. YES clinics are held at selected sites of NCAA championships. At the wrestling YES clinic, participants will have the opportunity to learn from some of the nation's top coaches and student-athletes. Participants will learn and practice mental and physical skill development and connect with other young athletes from the area. The instructors will teach wrestlers the crucial elements of sports, such as dicipline, confidence and commitment in ways that will enable them to apply what they learn to an athletics setting or to other areas of their lives. The clinic is being organized by the Sports Commission's Sports for Kids program. Sports for Kids coordinates a series of initiatives that help young people from St. Louis live healthier, happier and more productive lives through sports.
