Meredith Witulski of Colorado Springs, Colo. has been promoted by USA Wrestling to the newly-created position of Director of Internet Operations. Witulski joined USA Wrestling in May 2000, as the Internet Manager/Technician. She has managed USA Wrestling's expanding internet activities, including the development of TheMat.com, the new internet presence for the Amateur Wrestling Alliance (AWA). "Meredith Witulski has been a great asset to USA Wrestling, and we are excited about what she has done with our internet program," said Rich Bender, acting Executive Director of USA Wrestling. "Her skill and experience will allow USA Wrestling and TheMat.com to stay on the cutting edge of the internet market." "The AWA site has grown tremendously since its launch seven months ago, and I am excited about the opportunity to help guide its development," said Witulski. "The goal is to create the ultimate source for real wrestling, and TheMat.com is well on its way." TheMat.com was launched in June 2000, and has become a leading force on the internet. Its traffic has continued to grow, reaching an average of more than 60,000 users and 1 million hits each and every week. This is expected to continue to expand during the 2001 year as more and more is added to the web page in terms of coverage and utilities. Witulski created the final design for the web page, and has created each section of TheMat.com. She has helped plan and develop the content for the page. In addition, she has designed the new web page for the National Wrestling Coaches Association (nwcaonline.com), as well as a redesign of USA Wrestling's web page (usawrestling.org). Witulski came to USA Wrestling from Smart Computing Magazine, where she served as the Web Editor/Developer. For three years, Witulski managed the daily operations of a high-traffic web site for the national computer magazine. She maintained the editorial content on the page, as well as developed new features and enhancements on the site. She was also active in the marketing and promotion of the site designed to create new traffic. Witulski earned her bachelor's degree in Communications from Briar Cliff College in Iowa, and is currently working towards a Masters degree in Journalism at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
