125 - Tom Noto (Hofstra) dec. Luke Eustice (Iowa), 7-5 ot First Period: Noto scored a takedown 30 seconds into the period for a 2-0 lead. Second Period: Noto chose bottom and earned an escape. Eustice then shot a single-leg, but for the second time in the match, Noto slid off the edge of the mat. With 28 seconds left in the period, Eustice got in deep on a another single-leg, and this time finished, tying the score at 3-3. Third Period: Eustice chose bottom and earned an escape for a 4-3 lead. Eustice shot another single-leg, but Noto countered and nearly locked up a cradle before scoring the takedown to take a 5-4 lead. Eustice tied the match with a late escape. Overtime: 30 seconds into overtime, Noto finished a clean double-leg for the win. 133 - Zach Roberson (Iowa St.) dec. Mark Jayne (Illinois), 12-7 First Period: Roberson scored first on a throw-by for a 2-0 lead early in the match. With 19 seconds left in the period, Jayne earned an escape. Second Period: Roberson chose bottom and quickly scored an escape to extend his lead to 3-1. Roberson took control of the match with three more takedowns for a 9-3 advantage. Third Period: Jayne chose bottom and scored an escape to cut the lead to 9-4, but Roberson scored another takedown to put the match away. *This match may have been for the No. 1 ranking in the nation. 141 - Jason Mester (C. Michigan) by inj. def. over Nate Gallick (Iowa St.) First Period: Gallick took a quick 2-0 lead with a takedown. Mester earned an escape to cut the lead to 2-1. Second Period: Gallick chose bottom. One minute into the period, Gallick appeared to have injured his ankle, limping noticeably. After an injury timeout, Mester was warned for stalling from the top position. On the next whistle, Gallick earned an escape, but had to take another injury timeout for his ankle. He then injury defaulted the match. 149 - Trent Paulson (Iowa St.) dec. Dustin Manotti (Cornell), 8-5 First Period: Manotti scored a takedown with 47 seconds left in the first period for a 2-0 lead. Paulson earned an escape to cut the lead to 2-1. Second Period: Paulson chose bottom and quickly earned an escape to tie the score at 2-2. Manotti then scored another takedown, taking a 4-2 lead. After another Paulson escape, Manotti was warned for stalling after driving Paulson off the mat. Third Period: Manotti chose bottom and Paulson let him go, giving Manotti a 5-3 lead. Manotti shot a single-leg with 34 seconds left. Paulson countered and came out on top. He then turned Manotti to his back, holding him there for the remainder of the match. 157 - Alex Tirapelle (Illinois) dec. Chris Bono (Sunkist Kids), 2-1 2tb First Period: No scoring Second Period: Bono chose bottom. After over one minute, Bono earned an escape for a 1-0 lead. Tirapelle then made the first serious attempt at an offensive score with a single-leg, but Bono was able to sprawl away from it. Third Period: Tirapelle chose bottom and immediately earned an escape to tie the score at 1-1. Bono then got in on a low single-leg, but Tirapelle dove out of it. Overtime: No scoring Tiebreakers: In the first tiebreaker, Bono chose bottom and could not score an escape. In Tirapelle's 30 seconds, Bono released him but could not score a takedown. 165 - David Bolyard (C. Michigan) dec. Ralph Everett (Hofstra), 2-1 2tb First Period: No scoring Second Period: Bolyard chose bottom and earned an escape midway through the period. Third Period: Everett chose bottom and earned an escape to tie the match at 1-1. Bolyard got deep on a single, but was unable to finish the trip in bounds. Overtime: No scoring Tiebreakers: Bolyard chose bottom and quickly scored an escape. In Everett's half of the tiebreaker, Everett could not earn an escape. 174 - Joe Williams (Sunkist Kids) dec. Tyler Nixt (Iowa), 7-6 First Period: Williams scored a takedown for a 2-0 lead with 15 seconds left in the period. Second Period: Nixt chose bottom and earned an escape. Nixt then finished a single-leg to take a 3-2 lead. A Williams escape tied the match again at 3-3. Williams retook the lead with a single-leg near the end of the period. Third Period: Williams chose neutral. Williams extended his lead to 7-3 with a takedown. 184 - Greg Jones (W. Virginia) dec. Ben Heizer (N. Illinois), 2-1 2tb First Period: No scoring Second Period: Jones chose bottom and earned an escape for a 1-0 lead. Third Period: Heizer chose bottom and earned an escape to tie the match at 1-1. Overtime: No scoring Tiebreakers: Jones chose bottom and quickly earned an escape. In Heizer's tiebreaker, he chose bottom and could not earn an escape. 197 - Emmett Willson (MS-Northern) dec. Matt Monteiro (CS Bakersfield), 9-6 First Period: Willson started the match with a takedown, but Monteiro quickly earned an escape. Monteiro then scored a takedown on a slide-by, taking a 3-2 lead. Willson earned an escape with seven seconds left in the period to tie the score at 3-3. Second Period: Willson chose bottom and earned an escape for a 4-3 lead. Willson then scored a takedown and used a tilt for two nearfall points, taking an 8-3 lead. Third Period: Monteiro earned an escape to cut the lead to 8-6, but could not muster any more offense. 285 - Tommy Rowlands (Ohio St.) dec. Chad Lamer (Hawkeye WC), 12-7 First Period: Rowlands scored a takedown for a quick 2-0 lead. After an escape, Lamer took a 3-2 lead with a takedown. Rowlands took the lead back with a reversal with only 2 seconds left in the period. Second Period: Rowlands chose neutral used a front headlock to score a takedown, but he could not gain nearfall points. Lamer then reversed Rowlands to cut the lead to 8-5. Third Period: Lamer chose bottom and earned an escape to cut the lead to 10-6. Rowlands then scored a takedown to extend his lead to 12-6.
