Mausser of Clarion named EWL Wrestler of the Week

The EWL "WRESTLER OF THE WEEK" for the week ended December 17, 2000     Eric Mausser Clarion University    The Eastern Wrestling League Wrestler of the Week for the week ended December 17, 2000, is ERIC MAUSSER of Clarion University. A sophomore from Sharon, Pennsylvania, Mr. Mausser helped lead Clarion to three wins at the Clarion Duals, held December 17, 2000. Fans recall that Eric qualified for the 1999 NCAA Tournament as a true freshman, by finishing second in the 1999 EWL Tournament at 197 pounds. He redshirted last season and now is back!    Clarion racked up wins over EIWA opponent East Stroudsburg University (28-9), nationally ranked Division II powerhouse Pitt Johnstown (21-19) and MAC stalwart Kent State (23-12). In the East Stroud dual Mausser pinned his opponent in 2:04, in the Pitt Johnstown match Mausser cranked out a 17-0 tech fall, and in the Kent State event won by major decision with an 8-0 shut-out. Good job Eric!    We also give a tip of the headgear in recognition of two other Clarion grapplers, Rad Martinez at 133 pounds and John Testa at heavy weight, who both went 3-0 on the day at their Dual Meet Event. Good job Clarion University!    Congratulations to ERIC MAUSSER, our EWL Wrestler of the Week and to all our other Eastern Wrestling League grapplers who competed last week in  the greatest and oldest sport on Earth!
