Columbia, Mo. - The Missouri wrestling program will have a new home for practice and conditioning upon completion of Mizzou's new basketball arena in the fall of 2004. Approximately 60 feet by 104 feet, the new Missouri wrestling room, presently the fourth floor practice gymnasium in the Hearnes Center, will contain four new mats and other amenities. The current Tiger wrestling practice room, also located on the fourth floor of Hearnes, is smaller in size (45 feet by 40 feet) and holds a little less than two full mats. Touted as the largest wrestling practice room in the Big 12 Conference, Missouri will surpass Iowa State, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. "Both the coaching staff and student-athletes are grateful for the opportunity to expand into a larger wrestling room," Smith said. "The increased space will allow for safer practices and should draw the attention of some of the premiere student-athletes from across the country." The Tigers will hold the annual Black and Gold intersquad scrimmage Saturday, Nov. 8, at 11 a.m. in the field house. The wrestle-offs are free to the public and will help in determining the 2003-04 season starting lineup.
