USA Wrestling will be participating in a new United States Olympic Committee program that will provide support for individuals looking to improve their skills as a coach. The program will provide financial and educational support for individuals and will allow them an opportunity to participate in the resident programs at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. The coaches chosen will be given the opportunity to live at the Olympic Training Center, study under the National and Resident Coaches and attend classroom lectures from experts in a variety of sport performance related areas. In addition to the hands on experience, the selected individuals will receive a stipend from the U.S.O.C. Travel expenses to selected competitions will also be included in the scholarship program. Through this grant, USA Wrestling is looking to create an assistant resident coach position for all three resident programs, men's and women's freestyle and Greco-Roman. Weightlifting has already started the program and thus far has been a resounding success. USA Wrestling is looking to have coaches placed into the assistant resident coaching positions as early as September 1. If you would like more information or are interested in applying for the Men's Freestyle, Women's Freestyle or the Greco-Roman assistant resident coaching positions, contact the appropriate National Coach (Kevin Jackson - Men's Freestyle, Terry Steiner - Women's Freestyle, Steve Fraser - Greco-Roman) or National Teams Director Mitch Hull at the USA Wrestling office at (719) 598-8181.
