Team Ohio set a record for seeding points with 46 before the start of the Junior Freestyle National Duals in Enid, Okla. When the dust settled at the end of the tournament, the team did not disappoint, as it posted a dominating 43-16 win over defending champion Oklahoma for the title. Ohio's powerful lineup never surrendered two wins in-a-row to a very talented Oklahoma team. 152-pound senior C.P. Schlatter of Ohio, who had been tested against tough competition throughout the tournament, was impressive, destroying Charles Jones 10-0 in just under five minutes. Steve Luke followed that win with a 10-0 technical fall over Jones' brother, Chris at 160 lbs. The Ohio wrestlers were able to come out on top in nearly all of the marquee matchups, winning at 112, 125, 130 and 215 lbs. At 112 lbs., Levi Wyant of Ohio downed Mike Bizzle of Oklahoma 13-11. At 125 lbs., Cameron Doggett defeated Michael Arias of Oklahoma 5-2. At 130 lbs., Ohio's Jeff Jaggers defeated Justin Porter 8-7 and at 215 lbs., Matt Koz of Ohio defeated Jared Rosholt 3-0. Oklahoma did win one top matchup, as Shane Vernon defeated Jason Johnstone 6-2. Ohio heavyweight Tony Johnson provided the second pin of the dual meet for Ohio, sticking Casey LaGrande midway through the first period to cap off his team's win. Illinois defeated the Pennsylvania Superstars 36-27 for third place, the Minnesota Storm beat Michigan 33-27 for fifth place and Iowa downed the Kansas Pride 40-22 for seventh place. The Rollie Hoover Award for sportsmanship was also announced for both styles. Winning from the Greco-Roman division was Team Texas. Winning the award in freestyle was Illinois.
