World Sports Alliance, "The Official International Exchange Coordinator of USA Wrestling," is hosting an International High School Team Camp at the University of Dubuque, June 19-22. "With increased fears of traveling overseas, we felt we needed to make more international wrestling opportunities available here in the United States, said Wade Genova, President of World Sports Alliance. Teams are expected to wrestle more than 15 matches each against both U.S. and foreign competition. Foreign teams who have already confirmed their participation include Russia and Poland. Organizers are awaiting confirmation from several other countries. Teams will wrestle using folkstyle rules when both teams are American and freestyle rules when a foreign team is involved. The team camp will also feature daily technique sessions conducted by former National Team Athletes. The city of Dubuque, Iowa borders both Wisconsin and Illinois and is in the heart of wrestling country. It is not a far drive from either Chicago or Madison. The competition will be held in Stoltz Athletic Center at the University of Dubuque. The cost to participate is only $175 per athlete for a three-day resident camp and $130 for commuters. "We realize that most team camps are more than $300 to attend but we really wanted to keep this affordable," said University of Dubuque Head Coach and Camp Co-Director Jon McGovern. "It is not easy getting foreign teams over here and we wanted to give as many teams as possible access to them." Space is filling quickly and World Sports is limiting participation to 30 teams. If you are interested in receiving more information you can call World Sports Alliance at 719- 265-6005 or visit the webpage (wrestlingtours.com).
