The 2002 Kurt Angle Classic, held Nov. 9 at the Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, La., is now available on video. The video is two hours and 40 minutes in length and features all 16 matches in their entirety, along with athlete interviews. See the top amateur wrestling stars in the world square off in this special event that was run in conjunction with the "Show of Strength" competition that included body building, power lifting, arm wrestling and a strong man contest. Featured in the video will be 2000 Olympic gold medalist Rulon Gardner and two-time U.S. Nationals champion Cael Sanderson. Gardner's dramatic return came after he was in a snowmobiling accident in the Wyoming wilderness in Feb., 2002. He lost one toe due to frostbite. The Kurt Angle Classic marked Sanderson's first Senior-level international competition. Also competing in the 2002 Kurt Angle Classic were 2002 Greco-Roman World Champion Dremiel Byers, 2001 freestyle World bronze medalist Joe Williams, 2001 women's World silver medalist Toccara Montgomery and 1996 Greco-Roman Olympic silver medalist Brandon Paulson. The U.S. squad competed against an all-star cast of international stars that included two Olympic Champions, seven World Champions and three other Olympic and World medalists. Wrestling took place in an entertaining atmosphere. Matches were enhanced with music, up-close interviews and cutting-edge production techniques that set this event apart from other top amateur wrestling competitions. Cost of the video is $19.95 plus $4.00 for shipping and handling. California residents will need to add 7.75% sales tax.
