Malibu, Calif.  - Jimi Petulla, producer of the award-winning and critically-acclaimed film Reversal, has contributed $11,500 to the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) for legal fees support in conjunction with a lawsuit the Association filed against the U.S. Department of Education over the implementation of Title IX. John Rizzuti, Reversal marketing director, presented the donation to NWCA Executive Director Mike Moyer during the recent NCAA Wrestling Championships.    When the movie Reversal was introduced in October of 2002, Petulla promised to donate 5% of the net proceeds of the movie's sales to the NWCA. One of the "extra features" on the DVD and extended VHS versions of Reversal has a feature on the Title IX controversy. The clip contains a plainly worded explanation of the relevant issues involved, including a look at the controversial "proportionality" clause. There is also strong call-to-action for movie viewers to make direct donations to the NWCA. These donations are in addition to the lead donation made by Petulla.    "On behalf of the National Wrestling Coaches Association Board of Directors, we would like to thank director Jimi Petulla, of the award-winning wrestling movie Reversal, for his generous contribution of $11,500 toward our efforts to restore Title IX to its original intent. The NWCA appreciates Petulla's dedicated commitment to preserve amateur wrestling beyond his financial contribution through the inclusion of the Title IX segment promoted as an extra feature on the DVD," said Mr. Moyer.     "We are also particularly grateful that Jimi Petulla went to great lengths to educate Reversal movie viewers on the serious hazards of excessive weight loss," said NWCA President, Jack Maughan. The NWCA has committed over $225,000 over the past few years to develop and implement a gold standard weight management program to ensure that wrestlers manage their weight in a healthy manner."     The movie graphically depicts weight-loss by the lead character. In the extra features segment, the movie's producers included a segment on proper weight management and nutrition. Also, the movie runs a trailer at the end suggesting that all wrestlers compete as close to their natural weight as possible.
