The first USA Wrestling/TheMat.com Senior athlete rankings have been released for the 2000-2001 international season. These rankings recognize the nation's best freestyle, Greco-Roman and women wrestlers, and are prepared by a select committee of wrestling experts in each style. These rankings reflect the performance of U.S. wrestlers during the course of the international wrestling season. Updated rankings will be published in December, January, February, March, April May and July of each season. The rankings have benn developed at strategic times during the season, in order to recognize recent achievement and promote the efforts of the Senior-level athletes. These ranking do not replace the annual National Team rankings, determined at the World Team Trials or Olympic Team Trials each year. They are not used for determining National Teams tours, camps or training support, nor will they be used to seed athletes at USA Wrestling events. The ranking will be posted on TheMat.com in the rankings section. TheMat.com is the official web page of the Amateur Wrestling Alliance, which includes USA Wrestling, the National Wrestling Coaches Association and the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum. Newspaper and broadcast journalists are encouraged to use the rankings in their coverage of amateur wrestling. Wrestling publications and web pages may use the rankings, only if they call them the USA Wrestling/TheMat.com Senior Rankings, display the USA Wrestling logo, and publish TheMat.com website address.
