Cory Cooperman of Lehigh has failed to make weight for the first day of the NCAA Championships in Kansas City, Mo., providing a blow to Lehigh's chances of placing in the top five in the nation. Cooperman, an All-American candidate, was seeded sixth at 133 lbs. for the tournament. He qualified for the NCAA Championships this year by winning the EIWA individual title on March 8. Cooperman will finish his freshman season with a 19-2 record. He was slated to wrestle Pat Garcia of Northern Iowa in the first round. Garcia will now receive a bye to the second round where he will face the winner of Phil Mansueto of Cleveland State and Pat Dowty of Eastern Illinois. TheMat.com will provide complete coverage of the NCAA Championships at Kemper Arena, including a live audio broadcast.
