USA Wrestling’s spring season to kick off with regional championships

This year's USA Wrestling spring season will begin at the end of March with eight USA Wrestling Regional Championships scheduled across the nation for Cadet, Junior and Senior level wrestlers.     These eight competitions include the Northwest, Rocky Mountain, Southeast, Central, Northeast, Northern Plains, Southern Plains and Western Regionals.    The regional championships have traditionally been popular events, where athletes may test their skills and imporve their performance while competing against athletes from different states.    The top three Junior placewinners in each weight class in every regional will qualify for their state teams at Junior Nationals in Fargo, N.D., July 20-26.    Additionally, the highest placing U.S. athletes within each weight class at each Senior-level regional will qualify for the Senior World Team Trials, to take place in Indianapolis, Ind., June 20-22.     There are three Senior Men's Regionals and two Senior Women's Regionals this year that are World Team Trials qualifiers.    The season will kick off with the Tom Shaw Memorial Junior/Cadet Northwest Regional Championships on Saturday and Sunday, March 22-23 at Battleground High School in Battleground, Wash. The Rocky Mountain Regional Championships for Junior/Senior Men and Women, along with the Schoolboy/girl championships, will be held at the University of Wyoming in Laramie, Wyo. from March 27-29. The Northeast Junior/Senior Men's Regionals will be held in conjunction with the Brockport cadet Festival at the Tuttle North gym in Brockport, N.Y., April 11-13.
