USA Wrestling releases national Greco-Roman age-group rankings

USA Wrestling has compiled national rankings for Greco-Roman wrestlers in Cadet, FILA Cadet, Junior, FILA Junior and University age groups. There are a number of 2002 national champions in each of these divisions returning for competition this year.     The USA Wrestling Cadet age level includes athletes who are 15-16 years old. There are seven USA Wrestling regional events for Cadet wrestlers. The showcase event for the Cadet level is the Cadet National Championships, scheduled for the Fargodome in Fargo, N.D., July 19-25.    The returning Cadet national Greco-Roman champions are Troy Nickerson of New York and Garrett Scott of Pennsylvania.    The FILA Cadet age level includes athletes who are 15-17 years old. The men's FILA Cadet National Championships will be held in Palatine, Ill., April 24-26. Champions will qualify for a partially subsidized international tour.    Returning FILA Cadet champions in Greco-Roman include Henry Cejudo of Arizona, Nick Gallick of Arizona, Brent Metcalf of Michigan and De'Andre Nunn of Illinois.    The USA Wrestling Junior age level includes athletes in grades 9-12. USA Wrestling hosts eight Junior Regional Championships, which are open to all Junior-age wrestlers in the nation. The ASICS/Vaughan Junior Nationals will be hosted at the Fargodome in Fargo, N.D., July 20-26.    Returning Junior National Greco-Roman champions include Vincet Cina of Maryland, Tanner Gardner of Kansas, Angel Cejudo of Arizona, Cheney Haight of Utah and J.D. Bergman of Ohio.    The FILA Junior World age level includes athletes from 17-20 years old. FILA will host Junior World Championships in Istanbul, Turkey, August 22-29.      The FILA Junior National Championships will be held in Chattanooga, Tenn., April 3-6. Champions of this event qualify for the U.S. team at the Junior World Championships.     FILA Junior Greco-Roman champions eligible to return include Ben Kjar of Utah, Darin Harris of Utah and Joe Hennis of Florida.     The University level includes athletes who are 18-24 years old, whose class has graduated high school. The University Nationals will be hosted at Harper College in Palatine, Ill., April 24-26. Champions qualify for the 2003 Senior World Team Trials to be held in Indianapolis, Ind., June 20-22.    The University National Championships is a qualifier for the partially funded tour to the 2003 Olympic Hopes Tournament in Budapest, Hungary, August 1-3.    All of the 2002 University champions are eligible to return. They include Tim Morris of Massachusetts, Joe Espinoza of California, Nate Piasecki of Wisconsin, Darnell Lollis of Illinois, Pat Cadwallader of California, Jordan Holm of Minnesota, R.C.
