The U.S. will have three wrestlers competing for gold medals at the Cup of Independence in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.    Wrestling for gold medals will be Stephen Abas (Fresno, Calif./Sunkist Kids) at 55 kg/121 lbs., Chris Bono (Gilbert, Iowa/Sunkist Kids) at 66 kg/145.5 lbs. and Kerry McCoy (Bethlehem, Pa./New York AC) at 120 kg/264.5 lbs.    Abas defeated Adcham Achilov of Uzbekistan, fourth in the 2002 World Championships, in the quarterfinals by a 5-3 score. In the semifinals, Abas downed Erbol Dukenbaev of Kazakhstan 5-0. He will now face Dilshod Mansurov of Uzbekistan for the gold medal. Mansurov placed seventh in the 2001 World Championships.    Bono topped Aslibek Ysupov of Kyrgystan 10-0 to win his pool before defeating Tulkun Buranov of Uzbekistan 9-0 and Kuanish Suleimenov of Kazakhstan 12-1 to advance to the finals against Shamil Umalatov of Russia, who placed second in the 2002 World Cup.    McCoy will get a rematch with Artur Taimazov of Uzbekistan, a 2000 Olympic silver medalist who defeated McCoy in the Olympic quarterfinals. The two have not met since that match. McCoy defeated 2001 CISM Military World Champion Nikolai Telegin of Russia 6-0 in the semifinals.    Joe Williams (Iowa City, Iowa/Sunkist Kids) is in the bronze medal match at 74 kg/163 lbs. Williams lost to Isagadgeiev of Russia in the semifinals by a 4-2 score in overtime.    During the match, Williams was knocked out for several minutes after a running head butt by Isagadgeiev. Williams still led the match 2-1 going into the overtime period, but in the clinch, Isagadgeiev used an inside trip to score three points for the win.    Williams' status for the bronze medal match is not yet known.    Eric Guerrero (Stillwater, Okla./Gator WC) was knocked out of the tournament with a 4-2 loss to Ulan Nadyrbek Ulu of Kyrgystan.
