Fairfield, Conn. - Sacred Heart University Director of Athletics C. Donald Cook announced today head wrestling coach Brian Reardon was promoted to full-time status. Reardon will now serve as academic advisor for the athletic department, as well as lead a wrestling program he started from scratch two years ago. Reardon set up an aggressive schedule for the Pioneers during his first two years, and will have SHU facing nationally ranked opponents again for the 2000-2001 season. The high light of the upcoming schedule will be a trip to Brown University for a quad-meet against Brown, along with perennial powerhouses Bucknell and Ohio State. Reardon scored the first recruiting coup of his Sacred Heart tenure when he landed the first nationally ranked wrestler in the short history of the program. Steve Forrest (Bennington, VT/Mount Anthony) signed a national letter of intent to attend Sacred Heart in the fall. Forrest was ranked as high as second by Wrestling USA at 171 pounds during his senior year of high school.
