The second-ranked University of Minnesota wrestling program has announced the dates and times for television broadcasts of home dual meets for the 2000-01 season. The televised meets are broadcast on Midwest Sports Channel (MSC). The following dual meets are scheduled for broadcast: Nov. 26 versus Northern Iowa, 3 p.m., televised tape-delayed at 6 p.m.; Jan. 26 versus Michigan, televised live at 7:30 p.m. Anthony LaPanta and former Golden Gopher Willy Short will serve as the broadcast team for both dual meets. MSC is also the home of Minnesota Wrestling Weekly, a half-hour show that airs from mid-December to late March. The show, hosted by MSC's Mike Max features college, high school, kids and Olympic wrestling news. Head Assistant Coach Marty Morgan and Short co-host the college and high school segments of the program, respectively. The Golden Gophers open their dual meet schedule this Saturday at North Dakota State. The Northern Iowa meet, at the Sports Pavilion, is the first home meet of the season. Last year, the Golden Gophers turned away nearly 2,500 fans and set a school attendance record when 13,128 wrestling fans watched the Maroon and Gold battle Iowa at Williams Arena. The Sports Pavilion seats 5,700 for wrestling meets. Tickets for University of Minnesota wrestling meets can be purchased by calling 612-624-8080 or 1-800-U-GOPHER. Tickets will also be available for purchase online at www.gophersports.com beginning next week.
