Jones, Becker share CAA Wrestler of Week honors

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J.- Chris Jones of Drexel University and Rob Becker of George Mason University have been named the Colonial Athletic Association Wrestlers of the Week, and Chris Wilson of James Madison University and Bobby Stinson of Rider University have been named the CAA Rookies of the Week, for all competition January 14-20, 2003. Jones (Easton, PA/Easton Area), a junior 197 pound Dragon currently ranked 10th in the nation by Amateur Wrestling News and 14th by InterMat, won all three of his matches last week, including an overtime victory over 12th ranked Jon Bush of Perdue, and an overtime win over CAA foe Greg Sawyer of Rider. Jones improved to 18-3 overall. Becker (Mickleton, NJ/Clearview Regional), a junior 149 pound Patriot currently ranked 19th in the nation by InterMat and second in the CAA, went 4-0 for the week, winning his weight class at the Virginia Intercollegiate Championships. Becker won by fall over CAA rival Aaron Swift of James Madison. Becker improved to 19-4 overall, 5-0 in duals. Wilson (Hopatcong, NJ/Hopatcong) won three of four bouts for the Dukes last week and placed third at the Virginia States in the 141 class to improve to 7-5 on the season. Stinson (Berlin/Camden Catholic), the top ranked 125 in the CAA, won both of his matches last week for the Broncs, including a 5-2 CAA victory over Drexel's Dan Stewart, and an 8-3 win over Clarion's Peter Derstine, improving to 11-2 overall, 4-1 in duals.
