The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) and the South Central Youth Pennsylvania Wrestling Organization (SCPYWO) are inviting wrestling fans to experience "An Evening With Rulon" on Jan. 24, 2003 in Lancaster, Pa. "An Evening With Rulon" is a fundraising event to help continue the growth of the sport of amateur wrestling. Those attending will be able to join 2000 Olympic gold medalist, James E. Sullivan Award winner and ESPY award winner Rulon Gardner for dinner. The event will be held at The Eden Resort Inn & Conference Center beginning at 6:00 p.m. Rulon Gardner captured the hearts of many Americans at the 2000 Olympic Games by defeating the previously unbeaten Alexander Karelin of Russia in the super heavyweight gold-medal finals. Following a world championship in 2001, Gardner was hospitalized after a tragic snowmobiling accident in his home state of Wyoming left him stranded in the wilderness overnight in freezing temperatures. Gardner suffered from frostbite, losing one toe, but has since made a return to the wrestling mat. He is expected to compete in the 2003 Titan Games in San Jose, Calif., Feb. 14-15. Dress is casual attire and the cost is $100 per plate. Tables of 10 may be purchased for $1,000. Contact Jeff Bowyer at (717) 653-8009 for more information.
