Fox Sports Chicago Announces Airdates For 40th Midlands Championships

The 40th Midlands Championships finals will be aired on Fox Sports Chicago at three separate times throughout the month of January. The tournament which features the top college and U.S. senior level athletes in folkstyle competition was help Dec. 28-29, 2002 in Evanston, Ill.    The edited program will be aired at the following dates and times:    Saturday, January 11, 7:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. (Central Time)  Monday, January 13, 12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. (Central Time)  Wednesday, January 29, 12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. (Central Time)    The program will include the historic Joe Williams match when he captured a tournament record ninth consecutive individual title with a 6-3 win over Tyler Nixt of Iowa at 174 lbs. Williams, now wrestling for the Sunkist Kids, is an assistant coach at Iowa and regularly works with Nixt.    Matt Lackey of Illinois and Steve Mocco of Iowa both avenged losses from last year's NCAA finals as well. Lackey defeated Joe Heskett of the Sunkist Kids 9-5 at 165 lbs. and Mocco defeated Tommy Rowlands of Ohio State 4-1 at 285 lbs.    Lackey was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Wrestler. Travis Lee of Cornell, wrestling at 125 lbs., was named the Art Kraft Champion of Champions.
