Simon Fraser Dominates Lady Oaks Wrestling Invitational

ATHERTON, CA 12/19/02- Simon Fraser showed why it is the top team in North America, as their lady grapplers captured eight individual honors at the Lady Oaks Wrestling Invitational today. "It was a great tournament and it really exposed our girls to some of the top competition in the world," said Menlo College Head Coach Lee Allen. Carol Huynh and Jen Ryz, members of the Canadian World Team representing Simon Fraser, captured first place at 51 and 55 kilos, respectively. Canadian athletes won all of the gold medals. Two other champions for Simon Fraser were Jennica Day at 72 kg and Kristina Wolff at 77 kg. The other individual champions were Angela Mott of the Burnaby Mountain WC at 48 kg and Jessica Peterson of Douglas College at 59 kg. Three U.S. athletes claimed silver medals: Laura Felix of the Dave Schultz WC at 51 kg, Malissa Sherwood of the Stars and Stripes WC at 55 kg and Tonya Evinger of the Stars and Stripes WC at 59 kg.
