WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Army wrestling team fell to EIWA rival East Stroudsburg, 21-16, Thursday night at Christl Arena. The Black Knights received wins from Phillip Simpson, Jeremy Conner, Kurt Pryor and John Paxton, and will enter the semester break with a 6-1 mark.     Despite the loss, Army still leads its all-time series with the Warriors, 9-3.     "They're a tough bunch. I knew that coming into this match that they were a dangerous team," commented Army head coach Chuck Barbee. "They wrestled with reckless abandon, while we were wrestling conservatively, and when they hit - they hit hard."     The Warriors bolted out to a quick 6-0 lead after scoring decisions at 125 and 133-pounds. Patrick's Simpson's 12-5 loss to Jeff Smith, was his first dual match defeat of the season.     Patrick's elder brother Phillip (No. 15 - Amateur Wrestling News) extended his modest winning streak to five matches with an 11-3 majority decision over Mark Smith. Simpson is tied with Paxton for the Army lead with six wins by pinfall, but heads the club with two majority decisions.     Conner (No. 17 - Amateur Wrestling News) kept the club alive with his 4-3 sudden overtime victory over Matt Dudeck at 157-pounds. Conner and Dudeck entered the first extra frame tied at 1-1, but the Army senior was able to gain a one-point advantage near the halfway point. Conner looked to be in trouble after Dudeck scored a two-point takedown, but was able to gain a needed extra point for securing the riding time advantage. In the sudden death period, Conner captured the winning point after Dudeck received his third caution of the match for stalling. Conner's win cut the ESU lead to 12-7.     165-pounder Kurt Pryor brought the Black Knights to within two points after picking up an 11-6 decision over Brandon Mihalko. Pryor held a commanding 7-2 lead through the first period and was able to keep his opponent at bay for the remainder of the final two stanzas. The junior's win brought Army to within two points of ESU, but could not get closer the rest of the night     The Warrior's back-to-back 7-3 decisions at 174 and 184-pounds increased their lead to eight points, and then clinched the match with their win at 197, which provided them with an insurmountable 21-10 advantage.     Heavyweight John Paxton (No. 18 - InterMat) collected the Black Knights final win, scoring a 4 minute, 19 second pinfall over Adam Karasevics.     "I wasn't real pleased with the result and it's because we made too many silly mistakes," said Barbee. "I've challenged them to come back to the wrestling room and work their tails off over the Christmas break. I know they'll do it, and I know they'll be a better team for it."     Cadet Private Kristen Ianuzzi squared off against Cadet Captain Cass Faccipointi in a special intermission event. Ianuzzi, who serves as a team manager for the Army wrestling squad, electrified the crowd after picking up a pinfall victory over Faccipointi in just 26 seconds.     Faccipointi requested a rematch after suffering the quick defeat, but again fell to Ianuzzi by a 9-4 decision.     The Army wrestling team returns to action on Sunday, Jan. 5 with a match versus in-state rival No. 17 Hofstra. The dual gets underway at 6 p.m.
