Dear supporter of the college student athlete: Hello, my name is Leo Kocher, President of the Board of the College Sports Council and the head wrestling coach at the University of Chicago. Along with several others, I was featured on last Sunday's 60 Minutes television program regarding Title IX and now I am writing to ask for your financial support. You have likely noticed the significant increase in publicity that has been generated recently regarding the destruction of opportunities for college male athletes. We are successfully raising the public's awareness that while Title IX's original goal of equal opportunity was laudable, Title IX has been twisted by Federal bureaucrats into a law that is hurting males more than it is helping females. The success of this media awareness effort is a direct result of the tireless work of our professional public relations firm. While we have received an enormous bang for our buck, the College Sports Council has a critical need of assistance from student/athlete supporters like yourself to help cover our outstanding bills and to continue this effort in 2003. We do not want to lose the momentum that we are now experiencing. Informing the American citizens of the truth and winning in the court of public opinion is - by far - the most important part of the effort to reverse the serious threat to virtually every college male athlete. The opportunity is there to stop the bleeding and to change the dreaded proportionality criteria for school's compliance with Title IX. Your contribution can make a BIG difference! You can best help us, and all endangered student athletes, by making a tax-deductible contribution today to the College Sports Council. You can make your contribution by mailing a check to:College Sports Council, P.O. Box 53356, Washington, DC 20009-9356 or you can contribute by credit card online at our web-site www.savingsports.org (go to "Donations"). Thank you in advance for your generous support. Very truly yours, Leo Kocher
