State College, Pa. - Penn State red-shirt freshman wrestler DeWitt Driscoll (Connellsville, Pa.) was recognized for his eye-opening run to his first collegiate tournament title Thursday, as the Big Ten named him the Conference Wrestler of the Week. Driscoll was named the Outstanding Wrestler at the Mat-Town tournament last weekend after knocking off four seeded wrestlers en route to the 141-pound title. Driscoll earned his first collegiate crown by knocking off No. 1 seed and returning All-American Mike Maney of Lock Haven in the semifinals by fall at 2:03. At the time, Maney owned the No. 3 ranking in the nation. Driscoll then toppled defending champion and teammate Scott Moore, seeded No. 2 and ranked No. 16, 7-6 in the final. He also beat the No. 4 and 5 seeds to improve to 4-0 on the year. Driscoll and other members of the Penn State wrestling team will be in action this Sunday, Dec. 8, as they compete in the Nittany Lion Open in Rec Hall. Action starts at 9:00 a.m.
