NHSCA Senior National Championships To Require Wrestlers To Stay At Same Weight As State Tournaments

The NHSCA Senior National Championships this year will require ALL WRESTLERS TO WRESTLE AT THE WEIGHT THEY WRESTLED IN THEIR STATE TOURNAMENT. NHSCA National High School Seniors Wrestling Championships March 28-30, 2003 Cleveland, Ohio Eligibility Must be a senior in high school and a public high school state champion or runner-up or national prep school champion or runner-up during your high school career. New York, New Jersey, and Indiana will qualify the top four wrestlers in each weight class due to past performance and because there is only one division in their state tournament. California will qualify the top eight in each weight class because they have more than 800 high school wrestling programs and only one state championship. The top four place finishers in the NHSCA National Open Wrestling Championships are also eligible. There will be one wildcard per state that will selected by a state committee. Location Public Hall Convention Center in Cleveland, Ohio Weight Classes 103, 112, 119, 125, 130, 135, 140, 145, 152, 160, 171, 189, 215, 275 There will be one weigh-in for the entire event with a 3-pound weight allowance example: 103 weight class will be 106 pounds You cannot enter a weight class below the weight class you wrestled during the post season tournaments your senior year. However, you can enter any weight class higher than the one you wrestled your senior year. Matches All matches will be 2, 2, 2 in the championship bracket. All consolation matches will be 1, 11/2, 11/2. There will be full wrestle backs for all consolation matches. Awards The top eight place finishers in each weight class will receive awards as well as official recognition as High School Senior All-Americans. An outstanding wrestler as well as most falls in the least amount of time awards will be given at the conclusion of the finals. You must be present on the awards stand at the finals in order to receive your award. There will also be state team awards for the first top place finishers. Team Scoring The highest place finisher from each state will score for their state.
