There are only three more days for members of the general public to submit their thoughts to the government about Title IX. Friday, Nov. 29, is the final date that people can send their thoughts and their materials about Title IX to The Secretary of Education's Commission on Opportunity in Athletics. Act now! Writing a letter to the Commission asking for change in the way that Title IX is interpreted would be a great Thanksgiving gift to the wrestling community and the Olympic sports family. Methods to submit your written thoughts are: 1. E-mail at: OpportunityinAthletics@ed.gov. 2. Facsimile at: (202) 260-4560. Leaders in the wrestling community, as well as many other sports, have voiced their opposition to proportionality, one of the enforcement mechanisms for Title IX. They believe that proportionality is a strict gender quota which should be abolished because it eliminates sports opportunities. They contend that it does not reflect the original intent of the law, to provide fair opportunity for all. Don't let this chance to make a difference in the Title IX debate get by you!!! WRITE TO THE COMMISSION AND GET IT IN BEFORE THE NOVEMBER 29 DEADLINE...
