"THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE" USA Wrestling has introduced the Point Scoring System that will be in place for the Ultimate Challenge Series of Folkstyle Wrestling to determine the inaugural "Dominator Award" winners. This series of events focuses on major USA Wrestling sanctioned folkstyle competitions, which bring prominence to USA Wrestling's already outstanding slate of regional and national events. The events designated in the inaugural series include three national recognized folkstyle events, one new event to be organized in the Fall of 2002 and USA Wrestling's prestigious Kids Folkstyle National Championships. USAW has partnered with key volunteer leaders who have established major folkstyle events to present a series of events to recognize those outstanding athletes that participate on a national age-group level. The 2003 Series top three point earners in three divisions will receive an attractive award, to be designated as the "Dominator Award", that will recognize their accomplishments in this unique folkstyle series of events. The three divisions that can earn points are Division I (9/10 year olds), Division II (11/12 year olds) and Division III (13-15 year olds.) For the 2003 Series, age will be determined by the age the athlete was on September 1, 2002, and no athlete may turn 16 years old in 2003 and remain eligible. It should be noted that all the events in the Series include other age-group categories, but only these three age-group Divisions will score points towards the Dominator Awards. In addition to the three award winners per Division, the athlete scoring the most Dominator points will be recognized as "Ultimate Dominator" and receive a special award. The scoring system for 2003 is as follows: 1. Participation in the event = 500 points. 2. First Place = 1600 points Second Place = 1200 points Third Place = 1000 points Fourth Place = 900 points Fifth Place = 700 points Sixth Place = 600 points Seventh Place = 400 points Eighth Place = 300 points 3. If there is a tie in points for any of the top three places the tie shall be determined by these criteria in order: Most 1st place finishes, most 2nd place finishes, most 3rd place finishes, Most Overall Wins, Most Number of Pins.
