The University of Illinois wrestling team, ranked fifth in the nation on InterMat's preseason wrestling poll, will host team wrestle-offs on Friday, November 3, at 6 p.m. on the main floor of Huff Hall. The night's action will determine the Illini's starting lineup for its season-opening dual against Missouri on Nov. 10 and is open to the public for no charge. The Illini will also hold a free public practice on Saturday, Nov. 11, at Huff Hall prior to the Illinois vs. Indiana football game. Saturday's event will begin at 10 a.m. on the main floor gym and will mark the conclusion of the Illinois Wrestling Coaches Clinic hosted by the Fighting Illini staff. "We have eight returning NCAA qualifiers and three All-Americans which gives us a great deal of experience," head coach Mark Johnson said. "But there are still going to be some interesting and close battles to see who's going to step on the mat for us next week against Missouri." Illinois will open the 2000-2001 season on November 10 with a dual against Missouri at Edwardsville High School in Edwardsville, Ill.
