Billman Joins Cornell Coaching Staff

 ITHACA, N.Y. - Cornell head wrestling coach Rob Koll has announced the addition of volunteer coach Jamar Billman to the Big Red program. The three-time  All-American will assist the Big Red with the middle weight wrestlers.     Prior to joining the Cornell staff, Billman competed for two seasons at Lock Haven University, where he compiled a 61-7 record and earned All-America honors twice by finishing fifth at 149-pounds at the NCAA championships in 2001 and 2002. Billman also won Eastern Wrestling League and Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championships at Lock Haven in 2001 and 2002. As a senior, he posted a 36-4 record and led LHU with eight pins, and he went 25-3 and topped the squad   with eight pins as a junior.    Billman transferred to Lock Haven University from Penn State, where he had compiled a 56-6 record. He went 21-0 during sophomore season and posted a 35-6 record, including a team best 19-2 mark in dual action and earned All-American  honors after placing fifth at 142 pounds at the NCAA championships as a true  freshman in 1998. Billman finished third at Big Ten Conference championships and was named Big Ten Freshman Wrestler of the Year.    He compiled an impressive overall collegiate record of 117-13. He is currently training for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.     Cornell finished the 2001-02 season with an 8-4 overall mark and a third-place finish at the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association Championships. A total of seven Big Red wrestlers went on to compete at the NCAA championships, with 2002-03 returnees Travis Lee and Clint Wattenberg earning All-American honors.
