Former All-American Greenfield Hired By Nebraska

Lincoln, Neb. - Mike Greenfield has been hired as the Strength and Conditioning coach at the Univ. of Nebraska for the upcoming season. Greenfield moves to Nebraska after spending the last two seasons as a Graduate Assistant at Central Michigan. "Mike is an endless worker. He has great character and great enthusiasm for our program. He's going to provide a lot of knowledge and experience in helping train and prepare our team," Nebraska head coach Mark Manning said. Greenfield was a two-time All-American for Central Michigan and was a three-time Mid-American Conference (MAC) champion. He served as a student assistant for the Chippewas in 1999-2000. Greenfield was eighth in the NCAA finals at 177 pounds in 1998 and seventh at 184 pounds in 1999 to earn All-American status. He bagged MAC titles in 1997 (167), 1998 (177) and 1999 (184), and was second as a freshman in 1996. Greenfield completed his college career with a 108-39 record. He ranks seventh in all-time wins for the Chippewas and his winning percentage of .735 is 11th. He prepped at Althoff Catholic High in O'Fallon, Ill. where he earned three letters in football and four in wrestling. Greenfield was named "Student-Athlete of the Year" at Althoff as a senior. He was a state champion in 1993 and '94, and was twice named Southern Illinois "Wrestler of the Year." His prep record was 139-7. Greenfield completed his bachelor's degree last year at Central Michigan in Physical Education and is currently pursuing his master's degree in sports administration. Mike and his wife, Melissa, will reside in Lincoln, Neb.
