I read an article written by a gentleman Ruben Leon. I wanted to thank Ruben for his kind words and memories of my Dad, Art Dison. On September 4, 2002, Art Dison was a passenger on a old small classic chriscraft boat that capsized on Lake Wilson in Hillsdale Michigan. As a result of the boating accident, Art never regained consciousness as he was taken to a local hospital and put on a ventilator machine. He passed away Thursday September 5, 2002. His cause of death in laymen terms was he drowned. Art and his wife Beverly were 9 days away of celebrating his 50th Wedding Anniversary which would have been September 14, 2002. My Dad loved wrestling, officiating and the friendships he developed over the years with many of you. He Loved being out there on the mat and being with young people. I believe being out there on the mats kept my Dad happy and young in spirit. Although he was from the old school, he learned through his experience in officiating that he also had to grow, learn & accept changes. Art Dison, age 72.. Dad fought with his last breath to hold on to life on that fateful day out on Lake Wilson, in Hillsdale, Michigan. He died grappling for his last breath in the water, but God had decided to call him home. Dad's funeral was a beautiful ceremony celebrating his life. He was Honored and buried Friday, September 13, 2002 at Forest Lawn cemetery in Glendale California. Pastor Dave Rolph of Calvary Chapel gave the eulogy and message at the funeral. I am his oldest Son, (Art Dison Jr.) and I want to Thank all of you who knew, Loved and were friends to my Dad. All of you provided the friendship which gave him fulfilment in his life and made him feel proud to be a part of the wrestling community. On Behalf of my Mom-Beverly and the rest of my family, His sons Ken Dison and Darryl Dison, thank you so much for being a part of my Dad's life. There are so many of you, and you all know who you are..Thank you for what you gave to my Dad...Friendship & Happiness. Sincerely, Artie Dison Jr.
