St. Paul, MN - Members of the University of Minnesota-Morris women's wrestling team put on four performances on the University of Minnesota stage over the Labor Day weekend at the Minnesota State Fair, teaching fair-goers all about Olympic freestyle wrestling. Nice size crowds gathered around the stage area both on Saturday and Sunday to watch the UM-Morris women drill their takedown techniques, demonstrate a variety of takedowns and turns, explain the scoring methods, and even wrestle a live match. The UM-Morris wrestlers helped educate and promote the sport of women's freestyle wrestling that will be an Olympic sport in the 2004 Games in Athens, Greece. The wrestlers then mingled with the crowd handing out autographed post-cards to the spectators and answering questions.
