Cambridge, MA -- Bryan Snyder, a four-time All-American at the University of Nebraska, has been named assistant wrestling coach at Harvard. He joins the staff headed by two-time Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association Coach of the Year, Jay Weiss. Snyder, a 2002 graduate of Nebraska, was an NCAA finalist in 2001 and 2002. He won four Big XII Conference Championships in the 157 lb. weight class, and earned National Wrestling Coaches Association Academic All-America honors three times. He was the Cornhuskers' captain as a senior and holds the all-time best winning percentage in Nebraska wrestling history with a 136-11 record (.925). "I am tremendously excited to join the Harvard wrestling program," said Snyder. "I truly believe in Coach Weiss' coaching philosophy and look forward to being a part of the future of the Harvard wrestling tradition." The Crimson has been one of the top teams in the East under Weiss, who has been at the helm for eight seasons. Harvard won the EIWA Championship in 2001 and has produced seven All-Americans in the last five years. "We are extremely excited to have someone of Bryan's wrestling ability and character join our program," said Weiss. "Bryan has been one of the best wrestlers in the nation for the past four years and his influence on our team will be invaluable in many ways. His goals and philosophies mesh with what Harvard wrestling is all about-excellence." Snyder will replace former Crimson All-American Dustin DeNunzio, who will stay with the team in a volunteer capacity while he pursues graduate studies.
