USOC Announces Organizational Changes

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. - - The United States Olympic Committee (USOC) has announced that Rick Mack will rejoin the organization as Managing Director of Human Resources, a post he held for over a decade before leaving in 2000 to pursue other opportunities. Mack, who will return to the USOC on May 6, most recently served as Executive Director of the National Archery Association. He is a graduate of Penn State University and the University of Arkansas, where he earned a master's degree in operations management. Kae Rader, who headed the USOC Human Resources Division for the last two years, is assuming new duties as Managing Director of Performance Based Development in the Sports Resources Division. Previously the USOC's Senior Director of Grants and Planning, she was Executive Director of USA Table Tennis (1991-94) after serving four years with the Indiana SportsCorporation, one of the nation's most influential civic-based sports marketing organizations. A graduate of Purdue University, Rader holds agraduate certificate in Nonprofit Management from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and is currently working toward a Master of Public Administration degree at UCCS. Changes also have taken place in the USOC Finance Division. Walt Glover, who has been the Director of Budgets and Planning since joining the USOC in September 2000, has been appointed Controller. Glover came to the organization following a 29-year career with Philip Morris USA, where he held various management positions in finance. A certified public accountant, he earned his MBA at Virginia Commonwealth University. LaRae Maruyama has been appointed Director of Budgets and Planning. Maruyama has been the organization's Controller since coming to the USOC in 1998. She previously was Director of Finance and Administration at USA Hockey for five years and spent 14 years in financial and operational management positions at Digital Equipment Corporation. Also a certified public accountant, Maruyama earned her MBA at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. Additionally, Games and Organizational Support will now report to USOC Chief of Staff Fred Wohlschlaeger, who also oversees operations in Information Technology, Finance and Administration, Legal Affairs and Government Relations, and Human Resources. "This organizational change, which clusters USOC service and event-oriented divisions, will better position us to operate even more efficiently and to assist in the achievement of our common organizational goals," said USOC Chief Executive Officer Lloyd Ward.
