USA Wrestling has been a leader for many years among amateur sport federations in providing international exchange opportunities to its members. In continuing that tradition, USA Wrestling is offering several outstanding opportunities this year for both teams and individual athletes. A Cadet and Junior team will travel to Beijing, China, from June 29-July 8th, for a series of joint training sessions and friendly team competitions against several tough Chinese squads. This tour features outstanding sightseeing and cultural activities as well as four-star hotel accommodations. Some of the sites the group will visit include the Forbidden City with its impressive Imperial Palace, the Summer Palace, the Temple of Heaven, the Ming Tombs and the Great Wall of China. The athletes will also see the world-famous Chinese Acrobats. Antwerp, Belgium will be the site of an international Youth and Junior Tournament. Athletes as young as six and as old as 20 can participate on this tour. This is a 24-year-old tournament, which draws teams from all over Europe. The group will also participate in several joint training sessions with a team from Belgium. This tour is also loaded with great sightseeing and cultural activities. The group will have a private bus and guide as they visit the Belgium cities of Brussels, Antwerp, Mechelen, Waterloo, Brugge and Ghent. The group will visit many monuments, cathedrals and museums and will even cruise along the canals of Brugge. Travel dates are June 22-July 1. Another wrestling tour, traveling June 28- July 7, takes the U.S. team to two exciting European destinations. The team will spend the six days in Munich, Germany and two in Salzburg, Austria. On this tour, athletes will participate in a series of joint training sessions and friendly team competitions with various German teams. Located in Bavaria, Germany's southernmost "state," Munich is surrounded with Alpine mountains, lakes, fairy-tale castles, museums, art galleries, and more. One of the famous sites the group will visit here is the new town hall with its famous Glockenspiel (the largest in Germany) with three levels and near-life size figures which sing into action several times each day. If you take an informal survey of the most beautiful cities in Europe, Salzburg is sure to come out on top. The Austrian city is full of quaint townhouses painted the color of Easter eggs, sidewalk cafes, and window boxes spilling over with colorful flowers.
