The National Coaches Education Program (NCEP) certified over 1,100 coaches nationally last year at the Bronze Level. NCEP certification is required by USA Wrestling, the National Governing Body of Amateur wrestling, for coaches to participate in state, regional, national, and international events. If you're an active wrestling coach, you need to get NCEP certified! By completing the certification process at the Copper Level, you will receive the Copper Certified Card, and Certificate allowing you to coach at USA Wrestling events across the country. Also, you will receive for future reference the Youth Wrestling Coaches Guide, a $25 value. Coaches who are Copper certified are leaders in the wrestling community and are then encouraged to pursue further education through NCEP by completing the Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels. Once, a coach is Copper certified he/she can attend the National Coaches Colleges held annually. The Coaches College is a five-day intensive study of the sport of wrestling. This past year six coaches completed their Silver Certification and three achieved Gold Level Certification. Active development of wrestling coaches is the overall priority for the National Coaches Education Program. Please attend a Copper or Bronze Clinic in your area and join the growing ranks of USA Wrestling. A $15 payment by cash or check will be required at registration for the Copper Level Course. (Total cost for the course is $25.) For more information on how to host a Copper or Bronze clinic in your area, please contact Ted Witulski, NCEP Manager at (719) 598-8181. Or, email twitulski@usawrestling.org
