Burbank, CA, 2-20-02 - Continuing its efforts to reach out and cover all of the world's various grappling arts, Grappling Magazine is pleased to announce the appointment of Eddie Goldman to the newly created post of Wrestling Editor. In his new position, Mr. Goldman will be responsible for directing the coverage of Olympic, international, college, freestyle, Greco-Roman, and folkstyle wrestling events within Grappling Magazine. He will also continue to write his monthly "No Holds Barred" column. "This really was a natural for us," said Todd Hester, Grappling Magazine Editor-in-Chief. "So many of today's top submission and NHB stars come from the ranks of wrestling and currently compete in both sports, that we felt that the readers needed to be informed about what was happening in that world. Eddie Goldman is one of our industry's premier writers and will be able to do the sport the justice it deserves." "For my part," says Eddie Goldman, "this is a major honor. Wrestling is the world's oldest sport. It has existed in every culture and in every period of history. Regular coverage of wrestling in Grappling Magazine will enhance not only the publication, but also the sport of wrestling, and I am thrilled to be a part of that process." "Wrestling is a martial art," Hester said. "Randy Couture, Tito Ortiz, Matt Hughes, Jens Pulver, Mark Coleman, Mark Kerr, Kevin Randleman, Tom Erikson, Dan Henderson, Matt Lindland, Vladimir Matyushenko, Frank Trigg, and many more stars of mixed martial arts come from the martial art of wrestling. Most grapplers today spend a lot of time learning wrestling takedowns and control positions. To ignore that part of the grappling world would be to ignore a large part of the Grappling audience. We strongly feel that readers will greatly benefit from upcoming articles on wrestling technique and events. We have full confidence in, and full support of, Mr. Goldman as he begins this exciting new area of coverage for Grappling Magazine." CONTACT: Eddie Goldman at wrestlingeditor@yahoo.com
