By Craig Sesker/TheMat.com Cael Sanderson has never backed away from setting lofty goals. While growing up in Heber City, Utah, Sanderson dreamed of someday playing in the National Football League. He not only wanted to play in the NFL, Sanderson wanted to become the first running back never to be tackled. When Sanderson came to Iowa State, he envisioned another dream that seemed unattainable. He wanted to become the first wrestler to finish a collegiate career unbeaten. Now 151 matches, and 151 wins later, Sanderson stands just eight wins from history. The three-time NCAA champion needs a dual meet win over Northern Iowa, two wins at the Big 12 tournament and five wins at the NCAA tournament to become the first collegian to complete four seasons with a zero in the loss column. Iowa State wrestles at Northern Iowa on Sunday. "I think the only way that Cael will get beat is if he gets caught on his back," Iowa State Coach Bobby Douglas said, "and there isn't enough time for him to make up the points." Even at 151-0, Sanderson still is not satisfied. "I just want to keep improving," he said. "There are a lot of things I need to work on." Another unbeaten, top-ranked Minnesota, closes the regular season on Sunday at home against No. 4 Ohio State at Williams Arena in Minneapolis. The defending national champion Gophers are looking to cap a perfect dual season that includes the championship at last month's National Duals. Second-ranked Michigan, coming off a road win at No. 3 Iowa, will face No. 22 Michigan State at home on Sunday. Iowa will wrestle at No. 10 Illinois on Sunday in Champaign. No. 4 Oklahoma State will be at Nebraska on Friday. It will be the final home match for top-ranked Bryan Snyder of Nebraska at 157. Sndyer (26-0) is trying to become the first Husker to finish a season unbeaten. Snyder will face No. 4 Shane Roller (27-3). Snyder is 4-0 against Roller. Snyder is 129-10 in his career for a school-best .928 winning percentage. "Bryan's had an unbelievable career," Nebraska Coach Mark Manning said. "He has a chance to be a four-time All-American, a four-time Big 12 champ and a national champion. Those are great accomplishments. He is a great person and a great student. He is the complete package for a student-athlete." The Cowboys are coming off a win last weekend over No. 5 Oklahoma. The Sooners are slated to face No. 13 Arizona State on Thursday in Norman. Oklahoma then completes the regular season against Michigan State on March 1 at home.
