University of Minnesota sophomore wrestler Damion Hahn has been named the Big Ten Wrestler of the Week, following his outstanding performance last week versus second-ranked Iowa at the Border Brawl. It is the fourth conference honor this season for a Golden Gopher grappler. With Minnesota leading only 14-12 in the Border Brawl, fifth-ranked Damion Hahn destroyed fourth-ranked Jessman Smith in a 13-2 major decision at 184 pounds, turning the tide back in favor of the Golden Gophers. Hahn controlled the pace of the match throughout, holding Smith scoreless until an escape with less than thirty seconds left in the second period. Hahn used a combination of takedowns to extend the Golden Gophers1 team lead to 18-12. The win proved to be the decisive match of the Border Brawl and improved Hahn's record to 21-7 overall (11-3 duals, 2-1 Big Ten).
