Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura has joined in the Border Brawl excitement, releasing a statement regarding the much-anticipated wrestling meet Friday night at the Target Center meet between No. 1 Minnesota and No. 2 Iowa. In the statement, Ventura says he will be attending the Border Brawl and will present the winning team with the Governor's Belt, a traveling trophy in the spirit of Floyd of Rosedale, given each year to the winner of the Minnesota-Iowa football game. The Governor's entire statement is below. STATEMENT OF GOVERNOR JESSE VENTURA I'm proud to say that I will be attending the "Border Brawl" Friday night as the No. 1 ranked Minnesota Golden Gophers wrestling team hosts No. 2 Iowa Hawkeyes. I am also looking forward to presenting the first-ever Governor's Belt to the winner. As Minnesota governor I am honor-bound to support the Gophers...with an Iowa joke. In the tradition of Carnac the Magnificent* The answer is: Eight track tapes, rotary phones and the Iowa wrestling team. The question: Name three things that are past their prime. ** TICKET UPDATE - As of 2 p.m. Thursday, more than 12,000 tickets have been sold for the Border Brawl in the 19,000-seat Target Center.
